FOREWORD
It is important for the user to
understand that the details contained in this book are intended solely as
a general guide with respect to residential steel framing. The details are
not intended to be used as final approved engineering details. They should
be reviewed and approved by licensed professional engineers and architects
before actual implementation.
Details have been presented as
generic and do not specifically refer to or recommend one manufacturer
over another. One exception is the Gus Truss, patented by Hemming
Technologies.
The various details contained in
this book represent standard framing techniques that have been developed
and implemented over many years in the residential construction of custom
homes, tract (production) homes and multi family units. The user should
realize that other techniques are also used in the field of residential
steel framing.
Steel framing provides an
excellent alternative and opportunity to traditional wood framing and
continues to gain momentum and popularity because of its many advantages.
Steel framing is the wave of the future.
Finally, the author welcomes
comments; and suggestions from users as to how this book might be
improved, and would appreciate notification of any inadvertent errors.
